‘Family Workers’ by: Odile Beishuizen, Social Work

Neighbours do not often see- and help each other on a long-term and voluntary basis.  The government is implementing the participation society in The Netherlands in which it should become a common responsibility to help your neighbours when needed. This works the best when they can give their help in a flexible way, without many commitments and when they get something in return for their help. My individual product is an exchanging system in the neighbourhood that leads to cooperation between neighbours from different generations. It is about exchanging knowledge and manpower to get the help you want to have close by and do something back in return for that. It helps to keep in touch with the people around you, and to profit from all the knowledge there among the villagers from different generations. When you want to join the project, you can subscribe yourself in a so called ‘Family’, as a member in the age they do not yet have in their team. As a family you can help another ‘Family’ for a task where is a need for others. You as a Family can accept that task and can get other help for it in return.
