Engineering Firm Windesheim by Anniek Verhoef, Werktuigbouwkunde
There is no better situation where a student can prepare for its future job than at an internship. Students can apply their knowledge into the real world and they are able to figure out what the business life is all about. But also when working in groups during the first and the second year of a study of engineering and design department of Windesheim, mechanical engineering, students learn how to cooperate in groups and naturally how to solve a technical problem.
So here’s the deal, why not set up an engineering firm from Windesheim for students of the second year of their study in Engineering and Design and make them work commissioned by a real company? First there have to be companies who are interested in this idea and they have to be collected by students or teachers, second there must be an office for the students to work in and at last but not least, students have to apply for this job. Once a week these students can work eight hours a week on a project, offered by a company nearby, in preparation of their future.
The Engineering Firm Windesheim is where second-year Engineering students work in groups for one day a week, commissioned by a company.
Even though I am sure the idea of an engineering firm will also work on other schools with students of different disciplinarians, developing the idea of an engineering firm for students in engineering of Windesheim is a first step.
