A place for everyone in our participation society, by Merijn Keur, Business MER

The welfare state has become too expensive.
Social Support Act is in force from January 2015. Now municipalities are responsible for the care of needy people (decentralization). Civil servants decide how much care the municipality pays for a person in need. The municipality will try to reduce costs for supporting the elderly in its boundaries.
Funds are limited. Unfortunately not every citizen can take care of his own needs. But as a society we could solve many individual problems together.
Therefore we should keep individual talents activated by distributing and sharing them collectively in a community house coordinated by the municipality.
The coordinating task helps the local government to get a better view of needs in care. Thus it can fulfil its task more effectively and cost-efficient.
The welfare state may be history, but as a society we still can take care of each other!

Leervanmij.nl by Tom Datum, Technical Information Sciences
Leervanmij is a website designed for young and old, a website where students and ‘elderly’ can help and learn from each other. The idea is that a student can upload its schoolwork on the website. This schoolwork can be anything, a Power Point, a summary, a report or a drawing. The student must mention what he/she needs help with. When it’s uploaded ‘elderly’ can take a look and answer the questions of the students. The questions can be from help with grammar to help with the content. This way elderly can learn about the subject the student is having and help the student at the same time! When the file is checked, you can react to the student to help him/her.
I hope this will start a conversation between the two groups and will result to a friendship for life!

Together by Ynez Visser, Pedagogics

“Togethere” is an informative product about Intergenerational Collaboration. The idea of intergenerational collaboration is to bring different generations together. In my opinion, before you can bring generations together they should be aware of the different generations in our society. After that they should be informed about the possibility of intergenerational collaboration, and that is what ‘’Togethere’’ brings you! “Togethere” offers you a presentation format about the what, why and how of intergenerational collaboration. “Togethere” makes people aware and creates support for intergenerational collaboration. When there is knowledge of and support for intergenerational collaboration we can become an intergenerational society. A self-sufficient and liveable society where people care/learn/know/etc. about and with each other.

With “Togethere” we will know how to get there!

‘The Intergenerational Orienting Internship’ by Charlotte Idzerda, Teacher education healthcare and wellbeing

I’ve developed this product especially for the pupils of my internship. The pupils I teach in my internship are from the third and fourth class of VMBO.
I’ve made an orienting internship for them with an assignment about the different generations.

The product in steps:
1.         I’ll give a lesson about all the different generations.
2.         The pupils have to visit a nursing home or a childcare for about four hours.
3.         The pupils have to interview two people form a different generation about a topic they have chosen.

The aim of this product for the pupils is to put the theory into practice and to get to know more about all the different generations. The pupils and elderly people can learn from each other and the pupils can help the staff and experience what it’s like to work at a nursing home or childcare.

Play Again , by Marleen van der Meij, Training Sports
The product that will be developed is a workshop ‘Play again’. During the workshop use is made of a game of past and present. In the past there were many people who liked swinging and nowadays this is still an activity that many children love. Moreover, the elderly know a song about swinging. The workshop is being created for two different generations, children aged 11 years and older people aged 65 years and older.
The purpose of the workshop is to bring people of these generations together in order to meet and interact with each other by means of an activity. The materials, which are used, will ensure the safety of the activity.
The limits of the participants will be respected and never be exceeded. Swinging is challenging, it requires cooperation and consultation with each other. Intergenerational Collaboration will meet movement.
