The
role of sports clubs in a changing society
by Ann-Kristin
Welsing, Windesheim Honours College year 2
The paper deals with the question what sports clubs
can contribute to current societal challenges and how they can reduce physical
and non-physical barriers to become integrative sports clubs. Sports clubs are
not only important from a health perspective as they promote physical activity
which helps to reduce the risk of getting chronic and stress-related diseases.
They are also an added value in bringing people together no matter what
socio-economic status or what generation they belong to and thereby increase
social integration and cohesion.
Target Group: Board
members of sports clubs.
